Free stuff for Art, Craft, Science...
All sorts of bits and pieces will be available from my car boot through Not Back To School week including the N Down sports day- first come first served, take what you want and leave the rest (not to Derry- we'll be going on the train).
Much of it has been used, but that makes it great for using and not worrying about it- huge paper for creations, crayons to melt with a hairdryer, scraps to collage with!
I will also be bringing the CPR training kits, anyone who still has one out, it's a good opportunity to return them.
Soft play area for the kids, a chance for a chat and a cuppa for the parents:) Admission is £4.95 3 years+ and £2.95 for under 3's. Informal, so just turn up and pay at the desk. On Irvinestown main street, they also have ten pin bowling and indoor mini go-karts if you're interested.
Meet us for food and film on Tuesday. We will confirm venue, time and film based on the preferences of those who express an interest, but Shaun The Sheep is out in August and is a front runner. We will spend the morning beforehand making stop-motion animations of our own, feel free to join us!
http://www.movieinsider.com/m11586/shaun-the-sheep/ Those of us who enjoyed the North Down Co-Op Stop Motion Animation session will appreciate the work that went into it!
School is back and the museums are empty again. A relaxed trip to W5 in Belfast to celebrate. We will arrive at 10:30 for a 11am workshop on Light, eat a lunch in the cafe (you can bring a picnic) and go on to explore the exhibition.
We will be benefiting from group/educational rates so payment in advance is essential to secure a place.
"W5 has over 250 interactive exhibits which cover many curriculum areas such as science, technology, art & design, geography, mathematics, ICT and english. They are organised into four main exhibition areas DISCOVERY (for under 8's only), GO, SEE/DO (8 Years +). The exhibits are designed to develop children's understanding and encourage thinking and problem solving skills. We also have a new exhibit “Climbit” Climbit is a unique, visually elegant, three dimensional sculpture specially designed for climbing. Oval platforms let children traverse over and under and through an amazing structure. Details of the exhibits in the different areas and links to the curriculum can be found on our website."
We will be travelling on the train from Coleraine to Derry (it's a nice journey under the cliffs at Mussenden and along by the sea), we will walk across the bridge to the Train Museum, have a snack/lunch at the awesome slides park and then walk along to the walls and the Tower Museum which has good displays on the history of Derry and the Armada/Girona etc), a snack at a cafe and back over the Peace Bridge to the train station. It's a very manageable walk.
Anyone who wants to join us is very welcome, we'll keep the organisation loose and let people move at their own pace, organising to meet at different points as it suits us.
Five times in An Creagan, and it just gets better. As part of the Not Back To School Celebrations we will be having autumnal fun in the Wild Woods. There will be marshmallows to toast, the normal chaos and mess to create and plenty of opportunity to learn and play together.
We will go ahead in all weathers, bring appropriate gear and something to change into for the way home.
