HEdNI

Lyric Theatre

Tue, 16/09/2014 - 11:00am - 12:00pm
HEdNI have been approached by an independent film maker to see if a film could be made of home educating families. This is not an investigative documentary, but the recording of real life situations, hopefully without judgement. The end point may be the BBC but the producers cannot guarantee the film will be aired at this stage.

An exploratory meeting with parents is proposed at which both sides can get to know about each other, and afterwards we decide about taking part. Families will be asked if they wish to volunteer for filming, but  the meeting is open to families who only wish to put forward their experience of home education and not appear on film.

A second room has been booked so that children can be brought along and parents will be asked to take turns at minding them and we will have activities to entertain. The theatre has also been requested to give the children a short tour of backstage, costume, etc.

Tannaghmore farm tour will start at 11.30am, this tour will take us into the farmyard which is closed to the general public, we may see chicks hatching, sheep lambing, etc. we have found the tour guides in the past to be very informative and happy to answer the parents and childrens questions alike. This tour will last approximately 45-60 minutes and costs £2.50 per person. If we have 20 paying children attending the adults go free :-)

There are picnic tables outside and possibly a room to hire to have our lunch in if it rains.

The museum will open at 1pm until 2.30pm for us to look around at our leisure, this is only open to us as an organised group and it is free :-)

There is a maze, beautiful gardens, play-park, toilets, handwashing facilities, a large green which is good for footie and ample parking. Most of the areas are accessible for prams and wheelchairs, some areas gravelly around gardens and the museum has steps.

No booking necessary. Report to Michele on the day just so I can count up if we have 20 children for us to get the adults discount.

Bring wet weather gear and sunny weather gear.

See you soon.

Thu, 10/01/2013 - 11:00am - 1:00pm
Location:
Dunmurray Community Hall

We had cloths and pegs, which we made into an enormous tent, crayons, scraps and tape to make people and wands, and straw from the wheat we grew to make straw plaits and dolls. We did all that and also played in the freezing Playpark, climbing and crunching frost, ran around squealing and had our picnic.
