"Some of the greatest scientists of all time were females who have made important discoveries in a variety of fields in science. Several of their contributions throughout history have even surpassed those of their male counterparts."
Each family will choose a female scientist and make a short presentation or display about their work, if we can fit in a few experiments then all the better.
A list to inspire you can be found here: http://famousfemalescientists.com/
Bake Off themed co-op. Please bring something you have made ready to assemble and decorate at the co-op. We have one oven so if you would like to bake at the co-op please let me know as we will only have space for two or three to bake there depending on how long each takes etc
There will be a guided tour and talk to the kids all about making their ice cream. There are also loads of farm activities (although a few of them do cost extra).
Price will be £5 per child and this will include a mid morning break and an ice cream tasting session. Carers will get in for free and under 3's do as well.
Adult price is £5 as well (down from 6.50) and for every 4 children one adult will get in free - so if paying adults split the cost it will get cheaper depending on the total number.
School is back and the museums are empty again. A relaxed trip to W5 in Belfast to celebrate. We will arrive at 10:30 for a 11am workshop on Light, eat a lunch in the cafe (you can bring a picnic) and go on to explore the exhibition.
We will be benefiting from group/educational rates so payment in advance is essential to secure a place.
"W5 has over 250 interactive exhibits which cover many curriculum areas such as science, technology, art & design, geography, mathematics, ICT and english. They are organised into four main exhibition areas DISCOVERY (for under 8's only), GO, SEE/DO (8 Years +). The exhibits are designed to develop children's understanding and encourage thinking and problem solving skills. We also have a new exhibit “Climbit” Climbit is a unique, visually elegant, three dimensional sculpture specially designed for climbing. Oval platforms let children traverse over and under and through an amazing structure. Details of the exhibits in the different areas and links to the curriculum can be found on our website."
